Yacht Charters in the Saronic Gulf

Donkeys instead of cars on Hydra, a pine forest running down to the water on Poros, and cocktails on a Spetses quay — the Saronic packs a classic Greek week into short, sheltered hops from Athens.

The Saronic Gulf is the Greece to choose when the sailing should be easy and the islands should be gorgeous. It begins an hour from Athens and never asks for a long open-water passage: the islands are close, the winds are lighter than the Cyclades, and every anchorage has a harbour town with history stacked behind it. It is the connoisseur's short-charter ground and the ideal first week under sail.

The circuit is a greatest-hits of genteel Greece. Car-free Hydra, where art galleries fill the stone mansions and everything moves by donkey or boat. Poros, a cannon-shot channel from the Peloponnese with a pine forest at its back. Spetses, all horse-drawn carriages and old-money elegance. And across the water on the mainland, the theatre of Epidaurus and the fortress of Nafplio put antiquity a tender-ride away.

Filtres pré-appliqués à la sélection the saronic & argolic gulf ci-dessous.

Car-free Hydra

No cars, no scooters — donkeys and water taxis only. The most beautiful harbour town in the Saronic, and it stays that way after dark.

Short, sheltered hops

Islands an hour or two apart and lighter winds than the Aegean — the Saronic is the gentlest Greek ground and the best first-charter week.

Epidaurus & Nafplio

The Argolic Gulf adds the world's finest ancient theatre and Greece's prettiest mainland town — antiquity within a day's sail.

Poros to the Lemon Forest

Anchor off Poros and tender to the mainland's Lemonodasos — thousands of lemon trees running up the hill behind a taverna.

Questions fréquentes

Pour the saronic & argolic gulf.

Where do Saronic charters start?

Athens — Alimos (Kalamaki) marina is the main base, 20 minutes from the city and 40 from the airport (ATH). The first island, Aegina, is a couple of hours' sail; Poros and Hydra follow easily within the first day or two.

Is this the best ground for a first charter?

Yes. Short hops, sheltered water, lighter winds and a harbour town every night make the Saronic the classic gentle introduction — great for families and mixed-ability crews. It's also ideal for a shorter 4–5 day charter.

Can we combine it with the Cyclades?

On a longer charter, yes — a common route runs Saronic islands then out to the western Cyclades (Kythnos, Serifos, Sifnos) and back. Ask for a 10-day itinerary if you want both the gentle and the dramatic.

How is the wind here?

Generally lighter and more forgiving than the open Aegean — the meltemi's effect is softened by the gulf and the mainland. Reliable afternoon breezes make for pleasant sailing without the big-wind drama.
